I have a Ford Automobile 2005 FOCUS 2.0L SFI DOHC 4cyl. Battery is new. No blown fuses. Car has 60,000 miles on it. How do I replace the alternator?

Rich watt, looks like a big job :" Disconnect the battery

Remove the engine heat shield remove the engine heat shield attaching bolts

Remove the upper generator nut

Remove the generator heat shield top nut Raise and support the vehicle

Remove the screws and the accessory drive splash shield

Release the accessory drive belt tension and remove the belt from the generator pulley

Remove the generator heat shield lower nut and the heat shield

Release the two air intake tube retainers and remove the air intake tube assembly

Remove and discard the generator B+ cable nut and disconnect the B+ cable. The generator B+ cable nut must be replaced whenever it has been removed from the generator

Lower the vehicle

Disconnect the generator electrical connector

Remove the upper generator nut Raise and support the vehicle

Remove the engine restrictor mount bolt This step will require an assistant. Position the engine forward and remover the generator

Also, check on here and here as well for a more visual aid. Hope this helps, good luck.

If you have the 2005 ZX4 automatic with duratech engine drop the alernator out through the bottom. Unbolt passenger side motor mount and rear motor mount. Slide engine forward and raise it to create clearance. I spent hours trying other methods. I was able to find and remove all 3 bolts from under the car.
