Ok guys its been a month since i got the yellow light of death (YLOD) on my PS3 repaired and it only lasted a month and it now has the red light of death (RLOD). I was wondering if i could use this thermal paste to repair the RLOD but if my ps3 keeps getting the RLOD or YLOD can i still make it work by keep repeating the thermal paste technique. Or is there a certain limit to it?

When you repaste or regrease the processor, there are some reasons why it might not be working. I recommend the following: new thermal paste nylon/latex/nitrile gloves. Coffee filter rubbing alcohol make sure to thoroughly clean both the processor and the heat sink without scratching it (coffee filter dipped in alcohol works perfectly). If it’s scratched it won’t seal properly. secondly, don’t smear it on, just put about a pea-sized ball in the middle of the processor and let the screws on the heat sink spread the paste for you. if you use your fingers, you get oil on the surfaces which counteracts the paste. so if it’s dirty, oily, scratched or damaged, you can do the paste all you want and you’ll still get issues. Maybe try this first before having to resort to more expensive methods of repair.

Agree with everything Nate said, but also be sure there aren’t other issues causing your playstation to overheat. No matter how well your thermal paste is transferring heat to your heatsink, if the fans aren’t getting enough airflow to cool the heatsink it’s going to cause problems. Try cleaning all the dust out of your fans and vents as well. You should notice a significant difference in both internal temps and external fan noise.
