Hello IFIXIT community, my touch id doesn’t work anymore (I did an online remote sessions with apple service which certified an hardware damage). Since the repairing cost is 180€, I want to keep the phone as it is, because I think the home button is ok, but…. My Problem: if the phone is locked/in stand by, the only way to “awake” the phone is with the on/off button. only after then i can use the home button. I cannot use the home button to exit from the standby mode…. why? the screen just doesn’t light up
The easiest and cheapest step you can take is trying to replace the home button. Since you already have a faulty touch ID, the button may have other damages too..it’s an easy and inexpensive replacement and here’s the step by step guide: iPhone 6 Home Button Replacement
