Hello everyone, I recently picked up a mid 2012 155 inch i7 MBP for a great deal. Once it arrived I found out the wifi was almost completely dead. I have really high RSSI and TX speeds of max 54 mbps when sitting right next to the router and when there’s any distance between me and the router it either cannot connect or has a TX speed of 1 to 5 mbps. I have a 2011 13 inch MBP as well with the same airport card and that works perfectly. I tried swapping both the airport card and the wifi/BT flex cable from the 2011 into the 2012 and see if that helped, but that didnt seem to help at all. The antenna wires that I can see that are connected to the airport card seem to be in perfect condition. So im kinda stumped as to what the issue could be. I’ve ruled out software issues and all the hardware issues that I can think of. I am certain its a hardware issue, but i just cant figure out what it is. Hopefully someone here has some ideas. Thanks in advance for any ideas and replies!

You’ll need to pop off the bottom cover to inspect the antenna cables as that’s likely your problem. Often times people damage the connectors or the hinge has damaged the cable.
