Purchased a 1 TB SSD Hybrid 2.5" hard drive and what to replace the original hard drive. How and when should I move all my data to the new drive. My computer abilities are very limited as is my understanding of the nomenclature, but physically changing the drives is no problem.

What you want is a means to Clone one drives data onto another drive. Apples migration app is useful when you have two systems (old and new) SuperDuper is one of the better file cloners when you are working with a single system.
