I really need help in figuring out what I did wrong please. I’m trying, but it is a bit frustrating. So, background: I have two broken iPhone 7 Plus. I’ll refer to them as broken iPhones 1 and 2.
iPhone 1: Has a messy rear housing with spots, and has a good working logic board with Touch ID, however, something is wrong with the parts where the phone takes approximately 3 minutes to load up from the apple logo screen, the cameras don’t work, and home button don’t click.
iPhone 2: Rear housing is gorgeous, however, the phone went through some heavy water damage (I was told this when I bought it). I don’t know how long it was, but I can tell you that the inside was loaded with corrosion.
What happened: So, I cleaned iPhone 2 out with isopropyl alcohol 91% and then let it sit for about 2-3 hours. There was residue all on the screen as well, so I took a toothbrush and cleaned that as well as let it sit for about an hour. So, I thought I could just take the motherboard from iPhone 1 and just insert it into iPhone 2 after cleaning out the corrosion, but I read in some tutorials that the charging port may need to be changed too. So I thought okay, I’ll just change the motherboard and charging port… guess I didn’t know how much I had to do and long story short I just did my first rear housing change with the inner parts between iPhones 1 and 2. HOWEVER, here’s what I did NOT transfer over: volume button and cablePower button and cableDual cameras After cleaning out iPhone 2 of the corrosion, and then giving it all the new parts from iPhone 1, I tried to turn it on, and it wouldn’t work at all. I tried changing the batteries, making sure all the cables were properly attached to the logic board, and then tried both screens. Still nothing. My assumption is it won’t turn because of the old volume and power buttons with their appropriate cables that I never changed out (originally covered in corrosion until I cleaned it off). I’m really trying with this and if anyone could offer any other possibilities that I haven’t checked as to why it won’t work, I would really, REALLY appreciate it. Please and thank you!
Here are my observations: You simply have too many variables here, it’s hard to know what works and what doesn’t and you are doing a mix and match with these parts. Some parts may be water damaged, others just damaged or defective. You’re long boot cycle on Phone 1 is probably due to the Audio IC. This is a common affliction on these devices and that means you probably have a logic board issue. Could the logic board be causing the other issues (cameras and HB)…it’s hard to say.Did you dunk the whole Phone 2 in IPA? You really shouldn’t do that with the cameras or screen installed. The flexes and housing is fine though.Try connecting just the charge port and battery to the known-good logic board and then connect it to an iTunes enabled computer. If iTunes recognizes the board, then your issue is probably flex or housing related.Try to identify parts (flexes, cameras and screens that work …that’s the only way you will figure this out.
Give a try connecting iPhone to ur mac and see u get to iTunes. The cables are the same for every iPhone, that wont be a problem. In the touch id enabled iPhones. THE MOTHERBOARD,TOUCH ID, should be from the same device. They are linked together Also check whether the iso propyl or the prying instruments interrupted with the battery. In this case the battery gets reset and you should give it a charge for 30 mins
