the zoom doesn’t retract properly and jerks in and out but does not move
michael, sounds like your lens barrel has dislodged itself. Sometimes a good cleaning will resolve this. In the past I have used a vacuum cleaner to assist the lens in extending and then clean the barrel. Try the suggestions from here, if that does not work, you could try to disassemble and repair the lens itself, or replace it. It depends on your comfort level and skills. Hope this helps, good luck.
