So, I got a new logic board, and somehow managed to pop off the iSight camera connector from the logic board. So, I have to A: Be extremely careful in the future about connectors B: Turn to the iFixit community for help… So, are there any technicians out there who have helped dumb @%^!* like me out of a jam like this? (Or any dumb @%^!* like me who managed to fix it themselves?) ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
Don’t feel too bad, chances are the “new” logic board you received was refurbished, and they may have badly soldered the camera connector onto the board if replaced previously. To fix this, you will need to solder on a new one. This depends on whether the solder pads on the logic board have been ripped off as well, or not (otherwise you will have to run wires). I have not managed to find this connector online before, so whenever I replace it, I have to remove it from a dead board and transfer it across. If you have no equipment or experience to microsolder, I would highly recommend sending it somewhere. If you do, first try to add solder to the board where the connector got ripped off, to see if the pads are present or not.
