After saturating my iPhone 4s in a pair of wet pants i followed the dismantling and drying instructions provided on this site and had a plan to place the components for ease of reconnection. After a lengthy dry and recombining the parts i discovered a small part that had fallen outside of the plan or out of the machine. The phone still doesn’t work at all and I’m wondering if this part is essential for its operation. If i could get some help or advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
That part is from the battery terminal. The battery is held in place with 2 screws. It goes under the battery terminal of the top left screw in between the battery terminal and the logic board. You can see it here
Would leaving this part out prevent the power button from working?? Because that’s whats happened to me & I can see no other error or parts I’ve left out! Many thanks
I had this same component left over last night when I replaced my screen. Phone doesn’t power on - but when docked, it did work perfectly. Just can’t lock/unlock etc with the power button. Now I know where it goes, I will get it put back in tonight. Thankfully only 4 screws to remove to get it back where it should be! edit I assume from the shape of it, it’s a pressure sensor to disable the power button if the back panel has been removed. Without that component there, it simply things the back is still missing.
