Hello - Would very much like to know: Can the stand be unscrewed and removed after disassembly? I see there are 3 screws on each side of the internal spring attachment but even if these are removed it is unclear to me if the stand can then be detached from the large metal backing if the screws / springs are removed. Does it appear as though it can be removed? Thanks very much!! Please reply when you can as I’d love to buy 2 of these if so. Thanks again, Sean
From what you are asking I think you’re looking for a VESA mount version of the iMac 27" Retina 5K . If that is correct then you’ll need to order this unit: iMac with Retina 5K display and Built-in VESA Mount Adapter. If you get the VESA mount version you can then have a removable foot fashioned to mate up with the VESA mount. We have a few older 27" iMacs which we did this so its more compact for traveling.
Not to be a pest, but I came here with this exact question and this answer doesn’t really answer the original question. He wants to know if you can remove the stand from the iMac Retina 5K with stand (not buy a whole new computer). Since I purchased mine 5 months ago, Apple will not let me exchange it. So I need to know if I can grab these iFixit tools, take apart my iMac, and install the $40 adaptor.
