Greetings! I have a long-term issue with my iMac 27” 2009 Wi-Fi connectivity. It all started with rare Wi-Fi disconnections, which became more and more often by time. It was this way: everything worekd fine, and after the restart - boom, WiFi was always in search, sometimes it could be fixed by reboot, but not always. Later on, the WiFi was completely dead. Everybody said I should replace the WiFi card. But before that, someone advised me to go to Preferences -> Network and remove the WiFi by pressing “-” for it and then add it back in. I’ve removed it and after that it never came back as an option. The system was like: There is no WiFi, hence no WiFi settings! No WiFi hardware at all!
Yesterday I’ve bought the new WiFi card & WiFi cable, because I decided to remove the problem by replacing all of the parts. I removed old parts, installed the new ones and still no WiFi! I’ve reinstalled the OS, tried the SMC and NVRAM reset. I’ve tried Terminal commands: sudo networksetup -listallnetworkservices showed me no WiFi option, ‘networksetup -setnetworkserviceenabled WiFi on’ answered me ‘WiFi is not a recognized network service’ After searching some forums, i’ve noticed people said “This is the hardware issue, replace your card”, but I already have! Please help me, I have no idea what to do. Ethernet is not an option for me, because it’s also dead! 1 pic - The parts which were bought for replacement 2 pic - Is what i see in network settings
I think you have a deeper problem within your logic board. Bluetooth, WiFi & Ethernet connect to the PCH (IBEX PEAK) using USB ports as well as PCI ports it offers.
