Years back, I tired installing bootcamp on my Macbook Pro but the bootable usb did not work. That was when I realized that the startup keys on my internal keyboard are not working. I had to change my startup disk to get back on my MacOS and the only resolution was using an external keyboard to use startup keys. And until now, the startup keys (option/alt, cmd+R, etc.) do not work on my internal keyboard. To think that it’s the keyboard issue does not make sense as all keys work just fine when booted to my MacOS. I tried NVRAM reset through terminal but still the same. The only startup key that works is shift key (safe mode), and nothing else. Any suggestions?

Do you have access to a second Mac which you can connect to yours using Target Disk Mode? Understanding the Applications for Target Disk Mode As I’m suspecting you have a boot sector infection Malware! Using the second Mac as your boot system run a good antivirus/malware application to make sure you have nothing present. Even if you don’t catch it the damage maybe done so you need to fully wipe the drive and rebuild it or maybe its time to replace the HDD with a SSD to gain some performance. The risk is when running Windows as it can allow the malware access to your boot sectors.
