Like the title says, there is absolutely no sound coming from my MacBook. I’ve tried the various solutions listed on the internet; using a tooth, pick, resetting SMC and the PRAM - but to no avail. What do I do?
Last time I had this same exact issue, it was due to a bad sound controller on the logic board. Depending on the model you have, this chip or the sound circuit in general could be on the main board (you need a board level repair tech to trouble shoot it and fix it) or on a smaller side board called also “in/out board” which is replaceable at an acceptable cost. So start by reading us the model number on the bottom case to determine the model.
check for audio from headphone jack. This will help you determine if it a board issue (no audio) or something else (audio). If you have audio from the headphone jack possible culprits are listed below:
- Airplay/bluetooth - make sure the audio isn’t stuck with audio out to airplay
- Physical speaker (internal) is bad - replace speaker to restore sound
