Chosen Solution
I can’t hear my iPhone 5 ring when a call comes in or when I receive a text. It vibrates, but no sound. When I slide the Volume bar, I can’t hear my ringtone. I can hear sound from apps like YouTube, however. I have gone through plenty of forum pages and tried all sorts of solutions but none of them have helped. The mute button is NOT on. Do not disturb mode is NOT on. Ringer is set to full volume. Phone DOES recognize the difference between headphone and ringer volume. Have restarted it multiple times but it has been of no use. Turned the volume up in Podcasts but NOTHING. Any ideas? I’m missing lots of calls / messages that I really can’t afford to be missing.
Sounds like a software error I see occasionally. I’d first try backing up and restoring through itunes recovery mode. Back the phone up THEN put it in recovery mode. don’t get that backwards… A clean install on iOS oftentimes fixes this.
