Last night I plugged in the phone and it buzzed and accepted the charger. Went to charge it today no buzz no charge indicator?????????????????????
Found the solution - I used a paperclip and a fine tweezer and pulled a ton of lint from the port. After all the lint was out it charged perfectly. Thanks for all the support.
Unfortunately iPhone 5 has a fairly sensitive charging port, so if you are sure that the charger and the cord you are using is working, I would bet that the charging port is dead. It is a fairly cheap and fast repair.
Are you using certified apple charger and cord? Try using a diffrant charger first. Try a hard reset, hold power and home button down at the same time, waite for Apple logo. Does the charge port have visible damage?
Just installed an iFixit battery in a 5S, and phone wouldn’t charge. Showed that it was hooked up and charging, but battery percent just kept slowly dropping. The problem was that the iFixit replacement battery had no insulation on the back of the connector, so I assume that voltage was just bleeding off to ground via the metal cover that goes over the connector. Removed the metal cover, put a small piece of friction tape on top of the battery connector, replaced cover and reassembled phone, and it’s now charging correctly.
